Pet Grooming

If it is time for your pet to be groomed, bring him to our veterinary team for pet grooming? At Trumbull Animal Hospital, in Trumbull, CT, we offer pet grooming services to help your pet look his best and have the best skin health.

Pet Grooming

Basic Grooming Services

Bathing is part of basic grooming, and it's an aspect many owners are happy to avoid.  Nail trimming is another basic grooming service you may want to leave to the experts.

It's important to note that these services are more than cosmetic. They can help prevent health issues that can arise from poor grooming, including skin infections and broken nails.

Health Checks

Along with regular grooming services, when your pet is groomed by our veterinary team, we also perform important health checks. We will be on the lookout for skin disorders, including lumps and rashes, and will also evaluate your pet’s ear health. If we notice a problem, we can implement a treatment plan quickly.

Ear Cleaning

Some pets need regular ear cleaning. Generally, dogs with large ears like hounds need their ears cleaned because they are more likely to have infections.

Parasite Prevention

Grooming is a great time to ask a vet on our team about parasite prevention to help keep your pet flea and tick free. A vet on our team may also prescribe heart worm medication to prevent your pet from getting earthworms, which can be fatal.

Sedation

Most pets can be groomed without any interventions. However, if your pet is very anxious and won’t let himself be groomed, a vet on our team might recommend sedating him, especially if it is a matter of maintaining your pet’s health.

Your Vet Knows Your Pet

The last thing to consider when deciding if you should bring your pet to a veterinarian is that, if you have visited us before, we already have a relationship with your pet and know how best to treat him.
